Soul Mates...

I'm sure many have heard the phrase, "I found my soul mate." Who is your soul mate? Have you found him or her yet?

Typical definitions of this word revolve around having an affinity towards someone or a person who's perfectly suited to another in temperament/ideology.

I used to think I hadn't yet found my "soul mate." But I recently heard a message preached, and with it came this revelation:

Jesus is my soul mate. It is Christ who can reach into my very soul and pick out the broken pieces. It is Christ alone who can mend what was torn, glue what has been shattered. When the ultimate soul mate has been with you, you will be ready for your earthly soul mate. And when the relationship is centered around the Lord, that relationship will be that much stronger.
Why?
Because, just like Moses' brother held his arms up when he was protecting the Israelites, God will hold you and your mates up when you hit that patch.

I don't know. It just spoke to me. The idea that I need to allow my ultimate soul mate in, and then I can/will be able to let my earthly soul mate in.

Just food for thought. Hopefully next time, I'll have something witty to say.

Easter Baking Frenzy

On Easter weekend, in between church, enjoying the sunny outdoors with the pup, cleaning, and family lunch, I was in a baking frenzy. A while back I had purchased King Arthur Flour's Unbleached Whole Wheat Flour and a small package of their organic unbleached all-purpose flour. After searching for several weeks for yeast-free recipes, not being content with what I was finding and wanting to make, I caved and picked up instant yeast from Aldi. After scouring Pinterest and Google, I stumbled on a recipe for Honey Oat Whole Wheat Bread. Oh. My. Gosh. Not only was this an easy recipe to follow, but the smell as it was baking...so good. I ended up making 2 loaves, of course the 2nd turned out much better than the first (which is great because it wasn't for me!) Making this without a KitchenAid or hand mixer made me a tad bit nervous initially. Timelines

So in the past 2.5 weeks I received what I classified as "disappointing news." Good news: I have completed my music therapy internship! Bad news: I won't be going before the University IRB until August, and the hospital's IRB until November. Bad news continues: I won't be able to begin collecting my data until Christmas break - approximately the first 3 weeks in December. Bad news: I now cannot complete my thesis until the Spring semester. Bad news: I don't graduate with my M.M. until May 2016. Good news: I can sit for the CBMT whenever I want. Good news: I have (for at least the Fall semester) a graduate assistantship. Good news: I have an entire school year to work on my thesis, rather than a semester. Good news: I have some part-time contract work with the hospital for a few weeks. Potential good news: I might be able to get some work through a private practice.
